yes, my trouble with individuation is now as the water falling softly on the tree-leaves…
and i spent a long time on trying to explain the idea of textual persona, or textual identity, based on a representative sample of a writer’s texts. and yes, as against a representative sample of other people’s texts from the same-ish context of situation (i say same-ish, because tenor relationships and field relationships all change the context of situation from text to text…).
of course i was not privy to the ‘tuesday meetings’.
i think P is involved in writing a chapter on textual identity in the new edition of M&W, so we will later see what comes of that
